Postnatal Yoga

  • Durango, Colorado (map)

Postnatal Yoga is breath and movement specifically designed for the needs of mothers and birthing parents, whether it is the 4th trimester or the 4th year of parenthood. These classes are designed to build upon one another, allowing you to slowly feel into your new body and build strength as we go. In the same way that you grew another human, you have also grown a new version of your Self. This transformation should be honored through intentional movement, community connection, and mindful breath.

Benefits:

  1. Posture support to help you re-find alignment, as well as ease the aches and pains of holding, nursing, and sleeping with a newborn baby

  2. Pelvic floor and core recovery through breath work and gentle movement

  3. Community support with other parents in similar seasons of life

  4. Mindfulness and meditation for nervous system regulation

Logistics:

This class series will meet at Cafe Au Play weekly on Tuesday mornings. Drop-ins welcome. $15 per drop-in, $10 for the 5 week series.

Each class will begin with a circle for sharing (around 15 minute) and lead into a gentle movement practice that lasts about an hour. Non-mobile babies (or babies in arms) are always welcome to join. As this time is for you, I encourage you to not invite your toddlers and mobile older children.

Please only engage in yoga after you have received clearance from your provider. Postpartum yoga is generally recommended to begin 4-6 weeks after a vaginal birth and 10-12 weeks after a belly birth (cesarean).
