Alana Wilson: Prenatal Yoga and Postnatal Yoga Teacher & Somatic Educator in Durango, CO (she/her)

☁︎ I’m Alana Wilson, a 300-hour Embodyoga® teacher and somatic educator based in the heart of Durango, Colorado. Serving families across the Four Corners region, I provide a bridge between traditional yoga, functional biomechanics, and the deeply restorative world of Body-Mind Centering (BMC).

My work is dedicated to prenatal and postpartum support—not as a fitness goal, but as a journey of internal architecture. Whether you are navigating the physical shifts of pregnancy or the sacred "first 40 days" of postpartum recovery, my approach focuses on creating space, finding ease, and building an embodied foundation for parenthood.

In our sessions, we move beyond the surface. We explore the biomechanics of the pelvis, the support of the diaphragm’s crura, and the grounding power of foot articulation. By understanding how our bodies are designed to yield and push, we can relieve common discomforts like SI joint pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and the postural strains of motherhood.

As a resident of Southwest Colorado, I am passionate about cultivating a resilient community of birthing folk in Durango and the surrounding Four Corners area. I believe that movement should be an act of agency—an "internal anchor" that stays with you long after you leave the mat. ☁︎

My Path to Embodied Remembrance

My journey into somatic practice began with a profound initiation: my transition into motherhood. It was through this season of being "stretched" that I discovered the necessity of an internal architecture—a way to feel supported from the inside out.

Today, I serve the Durango and Four Corners community as a 300-hour Embodyoga® teacher and postpartum doula. My work is deeply informed by Body-Mind Centering® (BMC) and the study of biomechanics. I believe that by remembering our body’s innate wisdom, we can navigate the transitions of pregnancy, birth, and parenthood with agency and ease.

My Approach to Movement

Whether we are exploring the Deep Front Line of fascia in a prenatal session or re-patterning the pelvic floor in a postpartum circle, my goal is to help you find your own "Internal Anchors." I combine evidence-based movement with a somatic, felt-sense inquiry to help you move beyond "doing" yoga and into "sensing" your own resilience.

Why I do What I do

I have seen the heartbreak of births that go off-course due to positioning and physical bracing. I realized that 'Yoga' wasn't enough—we needed Somatic Remembrance. I teach so that every birthing person in Durango and beyond has the somatic map they need for a safer journey."

How My Offerings differ

As much as I love all things birth and embodiment, I really give a sh*t about inclusivity and autonomy. My interest lies in offering a calm, loving, and steady presence for others to make decisions that best align with their life and body, through all stages of conception and parenthood.

I Really, Really believe in

The innate wisdom of the body. To be alive is to feel a full spectrum of emotions and sensations that bring their own potent medicine for healing. States of dysregulation are not always something to be solved and molds of being are not always something to be fit into.
