FAQs
Who is postnatal yoga suitable for?
In general, it is advisable to wait until you are cleared for exercise/movement by your PCP around 6 weeks postpartum. However, the specific timeline best for your body is only known to you. Gentle movement and intentional breath with a focus on the stabilizing the pelvis and supporting the pelvic floor can begin whenever you feel ready.
Does having a ceserean change my practice?
Cesereans place additional strain on our bodies during postpartum and often require additional rest to recover. Consider waiting until 10 weeks postpartum before resuming a yoga practice.
How are these sessions different than regular yoga?
Yoga for postpartum is specifically designed to support your recovery in postpartum. Each session places a focus on pelvic stability, connecting with the pelvic floor, spinal alignment, and breath-based core work. While prenatal and traditional yoga classes emphasizes opening, postnatal yoga emphasizes closing to encourage your body to slowly knit itself back together.
Can my baby be present?
Newborns through 6 months are more than welcome at any of our sessions. In fact, their presence helps to increase oxytocin and aid in your physical recovery even faster! As babies become more mobile, it becomes more difficult to maintain attention on yourself and connect with your body.
What actually occurs in a private yoga session?
After setting up a day and time to meet, I will send over an intake form to understand your recovery and your body’s present needs. Most often we will meet in your home and I will bring all necessary props and items. A unique practice will be sequenced according to your responses, blending movement and breath for about an hour of practice.
How much do you charge per session?
All of my offerings are on a sliding scale model, which can be learned about here. Prices per session range from $50-80 depending upon where you fall in the glass bottle model. No questions asked, simply let me know which price is best suited for you.
